skateboard

I like the way this turned out. It is a skateboard deck drawn on paper. It is supposed to resemble mountains if look at it from the top or bottom. The orange on the middle is supposed to be dominant and resemble a sun. The mountains make rhythm and repitition. I used crosshatching to make texture and depth.

Portrait #1

This is the first portrait I did. It is of myself in profile. I drew it looking at a picture of myself taken this way. The symmetry may be a little off because the hair is darker than the face, but there still isn't too much space. The value range on this portrait is good. The texture on the hair I did well on. I made the hair more dominant which is not what I wanted to do. The face should have been dominant not subordinant.

Portrait #2

This is a portrait of Barack Obama. The balance is asymmetrical as with most portraits. I could have done better with the contrast but it isn't bad. The color is obviously shades of black and white. I tried to create depth with the shadow and I did pretty well for the first time.
